Here at Renault, we chose to not pay attention to current safety regulations. Why you might ask? We feel the standards to not go far enough. Renault has always sought to exceed these safety obligations, and each year over $150 million in R & D and testing to be the best.
Renault uses a many preventative measures to prevent accidents such as ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Satbility Program) and ASR (Traction Control). These will attempt to do their best to prevent a colIision from occuring. However, if an accident does happen, every Renault cabin offers two lines of passive protection. The cabin has built-in crumple zones that are designed to absorb the impact, rather than the occupants.
Then, of course is our in-cabin safety. Renault is famous System for Restraint and Protection (SRP) comes into its own, combining adaptive seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, plus six airbags.

Though perhaps the best example of our attitude to safety is the simplest. Better visibility. All our models have been designed to ensure best possible visibilty for the driver.
All of which explains why more of our models have been awarded the maximum Five-Star safety rating for impact protection by Euro NCAP than any other carmaker. Including Mercedes and Volvo.
This is extremely significant as EURO ANCAP is an independant body that tests the safety systems of vehicles. At times it does purchase cars to do this. When it tests them, it goes way beyond the already high European standards.
